Public server

It is here so you can check whether your phone and your plugins connect at all, and so you can practise the things you cannot practise alone. You connect and that is it.

The rules

  • Everything is in the open. Strangers see your position, your callsign and your messages. Do not send anything here that you would not pin to a public noticeboard.
  • The link is slow on purpose: 2 Mbit/s down and 1 Mbit/s up for the whole environment. That is the condition on which the server is free.
  • Video is off. Voice, chat and the echo bot work — the echo bot sends your own voice back, so you can test your microphone without a second person.
  • We do not promise the server is up. The environment gets wiped and set up again without notice, together with positions and data packages. Do not keep anything here that you do not have elsewhere.
  • We record connections: time, address, callsign and account name. Without that record there is no way to answer a report of abuse.

How to connect

Ready-made package

The fastest way. Download the file, load it in ATAK and the server is configured. Everyone using this package shares one account, so what you do is not signed with your name — and the other way round.

Your own account

The portal issues an account just for you and a package with your callsign. One minute longer, and you are on the server under your own name.

Open the portal

Map in a browser

No phone with ATAK at hand? The same map opens in a browser. You will see positions and messages without installing anything.

Open the map

If the package fails

Do not reach for this unless you have to. The package above fills in the same values for you, faster and without a typo. This is the way out if the package will not load.

Address: public.taklab.eu

Port: 30002

The connection is encrypted. You still need the certificate from the package or from the portal — the address alone will not get you in.

Reporting abuse

Someone getting in the way, littering the map or impersonating another person? Write to kontakt@taklab.eu with the time and the callsign. We keep the connection record for thirty days, then it is gone.
